Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Prevention of Relapse of Depression
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teachers methods that have been shown to be valuable in assisting mood problems such as depression and anxiety.
MBCT is designed to help people who suffer repeated bouts of depression and chronic unhappiness. This approach integrates the ideas of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes through the cultivation of mindfulness. At it's foundation this work enables a person to become acquainted with the modes of mind that often characterise mood disorders while simultaneously learning to develop a new relationship to them. MBCT was developed by Zindel Segal, Mark Williams and John Teasdale, based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program.
